Kinsinger, Lady Panthers keep rolling on the golf course

The Washington girls golf team finished sixth behind Normal Community, Eureka, Normal University, Sacred Heart Griffin and St. Thomas More at the Normal University Golf Classic on Sept. 1. Allison Kinsinger was the leading scorer for the Panthers with a 11-over par (82). She finished sixth overall in the tournament.

On Sept. 3, the Panthers finished third at the Bloomington Central Catholic Saints Shootout. Kinsinger earned medalist honors with a one-under par (71) . Each member of the team earned medals for all their efforts finishing in the top 3. 

“This was her best tournament round she has ever shot,” head coach Matt Reiser said.

The Panthers followed that finish by defeating Mid-Illini Conference opponent Dunlap 174-183 on Tuesday. Kinsinger scored a four-over par (39) for the 9-hole round. Teammate Alyssa Metelak was the medalist, finishing one-over par (36) on the day.

Thursday, the Panthers fell short to rival Metamora 167-174 at Fairlakes Golf Course. Kinsinger’s hot streak continued, earning medalist honors with an even-par 35. Metelak shot six-over par (41). The loss was the team’s first conference loss of the season.

On Saturday, Washington shot well enough for fourth place in the Redbird Classic in Metamora, finishing behind Eureka, Metamora and Bloomington Central Catholic. Kinsinger’s dominate week continued, placing first overall shooting seven-over par (78) for the day.
