Washington soccer team stymies Galesburg

The Dunlap girls soccer team drew even with Washington April 5 after a road win.

After a 3-2 Eagle triumph, both squads left the field with 1-1 Mid-Illini Conference records.

The Lady Panthers were on top 2-0 before Dunlap scored three times in the second half.

Washington goalkeeper Olivia Schoch faced eight Dunlap shots.

WCHS 3, Peoria Christian 1

The Chargers scored first Saturday, but the Lady Panthers countered with three unanswered goals at EastSide Centre.

Ari Mata had a hat trick for Washington in a 20-minute stretch that spanned the first and second halves.

Jesse Markas assisted on the equalizer before two unassisted tallies after intermission.

Schoch blanked host Peoria Christian after a goal in the 18th minute.

The Lady Panthers turned a close game into a comfortable lead Monday with three goals after the halftime break.

Four different girls scored for Washington (4-2) in the non-conference road triumph.

Sydnie Morgan had the only tally in the sixth minute of the first half.

Erin O’Brien and Mata found the net six minutes apart before Maddie Lee capped the scoring with a penalty kick.

The Lady Panthers outscored Galesburg by better than a 2:1 margin.
