Limestone upsets boys; Pekin rolls

The Washington boys tennis team suffered a 9-0 defeat to Pekin April 27.

Bryan Kinas delivered the best singles result for the host Panthers in a Mid-Illini Conference matchup.

He forced the Dragons’ No. 1 player to a third set before losing, 6-7 (6-8), 6-3, 2-6.

Kinas and doubles partner Dan Nulty also had a solid showing in the No. 1 spot before dropping a 4-6, 3-6 outcome.

Washington is 1-3 in the Mid-Illini, tied for fifth place with East Peoria.

The Panthers are glad the earlier result was the one reflected in the league standings.

Washington was surprised by the visiting Rockets Thursday after a tie was broken in doubles.

Kinas (6-1, 6-0) and Kody Dexheimer (6-2, 6-2) prevailed in straight sets in singles, while Nulty came back for a 4-6, 6-1, 10-4 victory.

Kinas and Nulty provided a 6-4, 6-2 doubles win.

Limestone pulled out a No. 2 doubles triumph to put it over the top.

In a Mid-Illlini dual April 20, the Panthers were 6-3 winners over the Rockets.
