The Dunlap boys soccer team was the latest to find out it is tough to beat an opponent three times.

The Eagles defeated Washington for the third consecutive outing Oct. 21, but it took overtime for them to prevail in the Class 2A Streator Regional semifinals.

Dunlap’s 3-2 win knocked the third-seeded Panthers out of the postseason, ending one of the most successful seasons in recent history.

Washington (13-6-3), coached by Jeff Brooks, finished with its most wins since the 2000 campaign.

Toni Ramadani gave the Panthers a 1-0 first-half lead with a goal in the third minute.

The Eagles were ahead by halftime, however, after scoring twice in a span of three minutes.

Tyler Clark netted the equalizer late in the second half on a Ramadani assist.

The teams went to an extra session. There Dunlap advanced with a goal in the first 27 seconds.

The Eagles also beat Washington twice in the regular season to share the Mid-Illini Conference title.
