Morton topples tennis team
Washington lost a showdown with girls tennis rival Morton Sept. 29.
The Lady Panthers, who are enjoying a highly-successful campaign thus far, dropped to 3-2 in the Mid-Illini Conference with an 8-1 defeat.
The lone Washington win was provided by the doubles duo of Catrina Hollaway and Michelle Marchini, 6-2, 6-2.
Chandler Duchaine and the Lady Panther doubles tandem of Duchaine and Brooke Schoenbeck forced their opponent to a third set.
Washington was scheduled to welcome East Peoria (1-4 in M-I) in a match yesterday.

The Lions struggled to score a point against the Lady Panthers Monday at Bradley Park.
In singles, Duchaine (6-0, 6-3), Schoenbeck (6-0, 6-1), Katie Vroman (6-0, 6-0), Paige Marchini (6-0, 6-0), Sarah Uftring (6-1, 6-1) and Jasmine Diederich (6-0, 6-2) all won.
Washington’s doubles pairings of Duchaine/Schoenbeck (6-1, 6-0), Vroman/Paige Marchini (6-0, 6-0) and Uftring/Diederich (6-0, 6-0) also were easy victors in Peoria.
Conference: The Mid-Illini tournament, hosted by Washington, is at 9 a.m. Saturday.
With a win yesterday vs. East Peoria, the Lady Panthers will be in third place going into the league finale.
If Washington outscores the Morton/Metamora dual loser at the tournament, it will advance to a second-place overall standing.
