Simms-Edwards, Worner receive all-state recognition

Washington boys basketball seniors Dyrcius Simms-Edwards and Ben Worner recently landed statewide honors.

Simms-Edwards, a guard, was one of five players tabbed as an Associated Press Class 3A second-team all-state selection.

Worner, also a guard, was an AP honorable-mention all-state pick.

Simms-Edwards also earned second-team distinction on the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association 3A/4A all-state team.

Simms-Edwards repeated on the IBCA’s second all-state team.

Worner was named to the IBCA special-mention all-state team.

Combining for 32.7 points per game, the players helped Washington win its fifth Mid-Illini Conference title in a row.
