Panthers fire 150 at Kellogg
Washington downed the Limestone boys golf team Sept. 9 at Fairlakes Golf Course.
With a 155-168 home victory, the Panthers stayed tied atop the Mid-Illini Conference with Dunlap with a 3-0 mark.
Playing the par-35 front nine, Austin Worner was the medalist in Secor with a 37.
Right behind him with a 38 was Washington’s Sam Norbom.
David Dalfonso and Nick McClellan helped drop the Rockets to 1-3 in the league with a pair of 40s.
Washington routed the Limestone junior varsity, 165-200, as Cody Smock and Zac Cronkhite contributed matching 39s.
WCHS 155, Normal U-High 163: The Panthers prevailed again Sept. 10 at Fairlakes with three scores below 40.
Worner finished with the low round for the second consecutive match with a 36.
Norbom and Dalfonso added 39s as Washington defeated the shorthanded Pioneers, who had five players between 39 and 42.
McClellan registered a 41 on the outward nine to complete the victory.
WCHS 150, Richwoods 156: The Panthers played brilliantly Monday at Kellogg Golf Course.
Trevor Underwood’s 36 on the front nine, an even-par round, was good for medalist honors.
Washington also received a 37 from Worner, a Dalfonso 38 and Norbom’s 39 to upend the Knights, who had three scores in the 30s.
Zach Jacobs was the JV medal winner with a 37, but the Panthers lost after a tiebreaker following a 173-173 tie.
Girls golf
Washington lost a triangular on the Kellogg Golf Course Executive 9 Sept. 9.
Mackenzie Barker’s 58 led the Lady Panthers, who totaled a 252 on the par-35.
The rest of the Washington — Brianna Salmi (62), Ellen Corbin (64) and Aleigha Welty (68)— contributors were in the 60s.
Morton was first with a 193, followed by host Notre Dame’s 196.
