Netters blast off against Rockets
A couple Washington girls tennis individuals won, but the team lost to Mid-Illini Conference host Dunlap, 5-2, Sept. 9.
Sara Ohlman triumphed from the No. 1 post for the Lady Panthers, while fourth-seeded player Chandler Duchaine also was victorious.
The Eagles won all the other contested matches to drop Washington to 0-2 in the league.
WCHS 9, Limestone 0: The Lady Panthers were perfect Sept. 10 in Bartonville in a non-conference outing.
Ohlman (by default), Catrina Hollaway (6-3, 6-4), Quinlan Duchaine (6-3, 6-2), Chandler Duchaine (6-1, 6-2), Paige Marchini (6-4, 6-1) and Karissa Nulty (6-4, 6-1) all defeated Rockets in singles.
In doubles action, Ohlman/Quinlan Duchaine (6-3, 6-1), Hollaway/Chandler Duchaine (6-3, 6-4) and Brooke Schoenbeck/Erin Clark (6-0, 6-0) each prevailed in straight sets.
In a match that will be reflected in the M-I standings, Washington was set to host Limestone yesterday.
WCHS 6, Pontiac 3: The Lady Panthers won their second consecutive match Monday as they owned a majority in both formats.
Ohlman (6-4, 6-0), Quinlan Duchaine (6-2, 6-2), Chandler Duchaine (6-4, 6-2) and Nulty (3-6, 6-2, 10-6) all posted wins.
The Washington doubles tandems of Ohlman/Quinlan Duchaine (6-3, 6-3) and Hollaway/Marchini (6-2, 6-2) were victorious as well.
The Lady Panthers resume the non-conference portion of their schedule today vs. Woodruff.
