Metamora drops girls

The Washington girls tennis team lost Thursday to Mid-Illini Conference rival Metamora, 7-2.

The Lady Panthers won once each in the singles and doubles formats on the road against the defending league champions.

Paige Marchini was dominant in the second set of a No. 5 singles match, 7-6, 6-1.

Marchini teamed with Washington partner Catrina Hollaway for a 6-3, 6-7, 6-3 No. 2 doubles win.

The Redbirds also snuck out a three-set singles victory and had another matchup go to a first-set tiebreaker.

The Lady Panther frosh/soph team dropped Metamora, 5-4, in an exciting result for the younger netters.
