Washington seventh in conference finale

Washington moved up one spot this season in the Mid-Illini Conference boys track and field standings.

The Panthers placed seventh after earning 13 points May 8 in the annual meet hosted by Morton at EastSide Centre.

Mike Minehan secured points in two events for Washington.

He was third in the long jump with a measurement of 21-feet-1 1/4 and landed fifth with a 38-6 1/4 triple jump.

The triple was the lone competition in which Washington had double scoring as Chase Catton’s 37-2 1/2 was good for sixth place.

Michael Petravick raced to a fifth in the 110 high hurdles in a time of :17.7.

The lone Panthers’ relay to garner points was the 4x100, which consisted of Minehan, Evan McCauley, Jeff Vance and Levi Meeks. The quartet was fifth in :46.8.

Metamora continued its conference boys track dominance with a team championship by 59 points.

Frosh/soph: Washington was sixth at the underclass level with 48 points.

Cody Alexander (pole vault) and Andrew Watson (triple jump) won frosh/soph titles for the Panthers.

The 100, 200 and high jump featured two Washington scorers.
