WHIP thanks community for donations

WHIP, the local food pantry, would like to give a big thank you to all of you who contributed to the Washington United Fund for its $7,000 donation in December 2007.

It will go a long way in keeping our shelves full.

We also want to thank those super Washington Community High School Key Club members who provided 50-plus Christmas baskets and many, many pounds of canned goods and lots of time for distributing and sorting of same.

Besides the high school’s big contribution, we were overwhelmed by the wonderful outpouring from Washington’s Grade School districts 50, 51 and 52. All those soups, veggies, etc., will be most appreciated.

We want to thank all of those groups and families that contributed all through the months of November and December and those who put stuff in the big box at Kroger.

WHIP is currently serving from 115 to 130 families each time we are open. We will continue to be open from 8:30-11 a.m. the first and third Wednesday of each month.

Donations should be sent to Ken Koch, 934 Birchwood Drive in Washington.

Any questions, call Ken Koch at 444-4692, or Jackie at 444-2630.
