Delmar W. Richardson, 91, of Mt. Vernon, formerly of Washington, died at 7:35 p.m. Oct. 6, 2009, at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon.

Born Nov. 19, 1917, in Wayne County to Joseph M. and Hettie (Murdach) Richardson, he married Juanita Spence Oct. 25, 1947, in Morganfield, Ky. She died March 30, 2008.

Surviving are one son, Michael Richardson of Woodlawn; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four sisters.

He was a U.S. Army and U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II in the South Pacific. He was a machinist at Caterpillar in Peoria for 30 years, a farmer.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Mount Vernon, were services will take place at 11 a.m. Friday. The Rev. Bob Dyer will officiate. Visitation is 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial is in Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon. Members of Mount Vernon American Legion Post 141 will conduct full military honors.
