PEORIA  ­–  Marjorie A. Powers, 73, formerly of Washington, died at 6:40 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at Apostolic Christian Skylines in Peoria.

Born Oct. 2, 1935, in Peoria to Rudolph and Matilda (Rocke) Hoerr, she married Edward J. Powers in East Peoria April 11, 1974. He died Feb. 8, 1990, in Peoria.

Also preceding her in death were two sons, Edward and Robert Powers.

Surviving are four sons, James Powers of Joliet, William Powers of Columbia, Md., and Thomas Powers and John “Chris” Powers, both of Chandler, Ariz.; one daughter, Kelly Wiley of Gilbert, Ariz.; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and one brother, Donald L. Hoerr of Peoria.

She retired as assistant office manager for Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. in Peoria in 1974.

She was a member of the Sheridan Road Apostolic Church in Peoria.

She volunteered at Apostolic Christian Skylines and Midwest Food Bank.

Services were March 16 at Sheridan Road Apostolic Church. The church ministers officiated.

Burial was in Springdale Cemetery. Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria assisted the family.
