Emma Marie “Re” Brashers, 73, of Washington, died at 1:50 a.m. Friday, Nov. 21, 2008, at her residence.

Born March 1, 1935,  in East Peoria to Steve and Ethel (Bennett) Tott, she married John L. Brashers June 30, 1952, in Harrison, Ark. He survives.

Also surviving are her mother, Ethel Sheckler of Peoria; two sons, Philip Brashers of Treasure Island, Fla., and Barry Brashers of Yates City; two daughters, Brenda (Doug) Hunter of Metamora and Teresa Brashers of Bradford; three sisters, Caroline Turnbow of East Peoria, Viola (Carl) Fultz of Graham, Wash., and Charlotte (Jim) Wolland of Spannaway, Wash.; two brothers, Butch Duffy of Peoria and Joe (Kathy) Duffy of Round Lake; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Gary Leo Brashers, and one sister, Mary June Staples.

She worked at Duffy’s eatery, and was a member of Roland Manor Baptist Church in Washington.

Services were Nov. 25, 2008, at Deiters Funeral Home in Washington. The Rev. Steve Hardin officiated.

Burial was in Fondulac Cemetery.  Visitation was Nov. 24, 2008, at the funeral home.
