KANSAS CITY, MO. —   Rich “Gunny” Gunnar, 39, formerly of Washington, died Friday, Nov. 7, 2008, at his residence.

He was born May 15, 1969, in San Antonio to Dick and Marcia Gunnar.

Surviving are his mother; his wife, Melissa Gunnar; two daughters, Libby Love Gunnar and Emma Katherine Gunnar; one son, Hayden Andrew Thomas Gunnar; and one sister, Rebecca (Mike) Vaughn.

He graduated from Washington Community High School in 1987.

He then graduated with a bachelor’s of business administration degree in accounting from the University of Iowa in 1991. He was a fraternity brother with Sigma Alpha Epsilon.

He continued his education at Rockhurst University and received a master’s of business administration degree in finance in 2005.

He began his professional career as an auditor for insurance and mutual funds at Price Waterhouse in Kansas City.  For 10 plus years, he served as managing director of finance at Principal Commercial Acceptance LLC in Overland Park, Kan.

For the past year, he worked as the director of client services at Resources Global Professionals in Kansas City. 

He was an active member of the Missouri Society of CPAs, where he was involved in writing questions annually for the Uniform CPA Examination. 

Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Park Lawn Northland Chapel, 640 North State Route 291, Liberty, MO 64068, (816) 781-8228.

Visitation was Tuesday at Park Lawn Northland Chapel.
