WASHINGTON – Gertrude L. Schofield, 86, died at 7:21 a.m. Monday, June 30, 2008, at Proctor Hospital in Peoria.

Born Sept. 8, 1921, in Cass County, Minn., to Alvin and Irene Hohenberry Olds, she married Joseph Schofield in Peoria Feb. 24, 1945. He died Sept. 3, 1994, in Peoria.

Also preceding her in death were  one daughter, Barbara Joanne; two sisters, Ella Hall and Ramona Mauer; and one brother, Everett “Bud” Olds.

Surviving are one daughter, Linda (Jack) Kerr of Washington; one son, Stephen (Michele) Schofield of Washington; two sisters, Elizabeth Leonhart of Joy and Iona (Paul) Hancock of  Calhoun, Ky.; one sister-in-law, Betty Olds of Washington; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

For several years, she worked at Peoria Apron and Towel as a presser.

She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Washington.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Mason-White Funeral Home. The Rev. John Rothfusz will officiate.  

Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.  

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Northern Tazewell Fire and Rescue.
