WASHINGTON--Roy Lee Brashers, 78, of Washington, died at 1:15 p.m., Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at Manor Care at Riverview in East Peoria.

Born May 16, 1929, in Bolivar, Mo., to Robert and Orvilla Nottingham Brashers, he married Erma Jean Ragsdale on Dec. 4, 1949, in Tunas, Mo. She died June 10, 2006, in East Peoria.

Surviving are one son Michael (Beth) Brashers of Washington; one daughter Debbie (Mike) Hargis of Washington; and one daughter-in-law, Becky Brashers of Washington; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death one son, Jim Brashers; one brother, William; two infant brothers; and two infant sisters.

He was an electrician for Caterpillar Tractor Co., where he worked for 35 years before his retirement in 1985.

In his later years, he was worked on equipment like wheel chairs at the nursing home.

Services will be held at 11 a.m May 19 at Deiters Funeral Home in Washington. The Rev. Steve Hardin will officiate.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. May 18 at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.

Memorials may be made to the Northern Tazewell Fire & Rescue Squad or to Roland Manor Baptist Church.
