Wayne Pruett

WASHINGTON – Wayne L. Pruett, 60, died at 8:40 a.m. Thursday, May 1, 2008, at his home.

Born June 20, 1947, in Dallas, Ga., to George E. and Lola Clide Parsons Pruett, he married Brenda Swearingen  Oct. 11, 1969, in Washington. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Amanda Pruett and Emily (Darrell) Wiegand, both of Washington; four brothers, Donald (Claudia) Pruett of Centre, Ala.,  Doug (Connie) Pruett of Dallas, Max (Penny) Pruett of Waco, Ga., and David (Lisa) Pruett of Holly Springs, Ga.; and one sister, Nancy (Dennis) Teal of Rockmart, Ga.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Paul.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Vietnam War.

He worked as a mechanic at Yancey Brothers in Atlanta and also at Peoria Tractor in Peoria.

For the past 33 years, he worked at Caterpillar Tractor Co. He was a training instructor in service training, enjoying the global travel that came with his work.

Services were May 5 at Deiters Funeral Home in Washington. Bill Rhoades officiated. Visitation was at the funeral home.

Cremation rites were accorded.  Internment will be at a later date at Glendale Cemetery in Washington.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Midwest Affiliate or Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
