Nyal Karrick

Nyal E. Karrick, 73, died at 8:45 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2008, at Morton Villa Care Center.

He was born Jan. 20, 1935, in Mossville to Herman and Wanda Hendryx Karrick.

Surviving are three sisters, Fay D. Opper of Littleton, Colo., Deanna (Thomas) Todd of Lexington, Va., and Linda (Dennis) Friend of Washington; and three brothers, Gaylan (Sherry) Karrick of Peoria, Kevin (Paula) Karrick of Ft. Collins, Colo., and Dennis Karrick of Westminster, Colo.

He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army, and was stationed at Ft. Carson, Colo.

A 1953 graduate of Washington Community High School, he went on to earn a degree in psychology from Sangamon State University.

He also was a member of various poetry clubs and was a published poet.

Services were Feb. 12 at Mason-White Funeral Home. The Rev. Kathy Frus officiated.
