Washington and East Peoria police officers responded to a report of rape at about 5:15 a.m. Friday in Sunnyland, Det. Sgt. Jeff Stevens said.

Stevens said rumors of a body being found at Family Video or in a dumpster are false.

“The victim reported it herself,” he added.

Although East Peoria also responded, the incident is being investigated by the Washington Police Department.

According to Stevens, the incident occurred in Sunnyland; however, he would not release the exact location.

He did say the attack occurred along Summit Drive.

The victim did not know her attacker, Steven said, adding the incident is not linked to any other crime.

At this time, police believe they are dealing with an isolated incident, Stevens said, adding that police are continuing to “gather and analyze evidence.”
