Lt. Gov. Sheila Simon to speak at Bradley

Illinois Lt. Gov. Sheila Simon will speak at the annual Celebrating Women in Leadership forum at Bradley University at 3:30 p.m. Feb. 22 in the Founder’s Room in the Hartmann Center. The public is invited to attend the forum.

Simon is a lawyer, teacher and working mother. Her record includes serving as a Jackson County prosecutor, a Carbondale city council member, and a member of the Illinois Reform Commission. She acts as Gov. Pat Quinn’s point person on education reform, standing up for Illinois children and promoting K to 20 instruction across the state. She serves as Chair of the Illinois River Coordinating Council which seeks to protect and restore our state’s greatest natural resource. She has a long-time commitment to addressing and preventing violence, particularly against women and children.

The forum is co-sponsored by Bradley’s Institute for Principled Leadership in Public Service, the Pre-Law Center, and the Women’s Studies Program.
