Simple formula for M-I baseball title

Two wins this week will ensure fourth straight championship

The math is clear for the Washington baseball team.

With two victories this week, the Panthers will be at least Mid-Illini Conference co-champions for the fourth season in a row.

It will not be easy for Washington (17-12, 8-4).

Washington's upcoming M-I game is Wednesday at first-place East Peoria (14-14, 9-3), putting the Panthers in the best position of the contenders in second place since they do not need outside help to get to a title.

Next, the Panthers face Morton (17-12, 8-4) at home Thursday in a rescheduled contest.

Both rivals, along with Limestone (17-10, 8-4 in M-I), trail East Peoria by one game in the M-I standings.
