Just four days after the holiday that sparked worldwide attention to decorate with Christmas lights to show support, 2-year-old Dax Locke of Washington, died peacefully.

According to the journal his mother Julie Locke wrote at caringbridge.org, her son's heart stopped beating at 2:15 a.m. after his struggle with leukemia.

Locke's short life was far-reaching and affected hundreds. Many wrote testimonials on the Web site about being more appreciative and patient with their own children. Others showed support by donating to St. Jude.

“He touched so many lives in such a short time,” Julie Lock wrote. “He was a fighter until the end. He will be remembered forever in the hearts of all that loved him.”

Dax is survived by his parents, Julie and Austin Locke.
