Flyover ramp work set to begin in April

Starting the first weekend in April, the Illinois Department of Transportation plans to close the flyover bridge on McCluggage Road (Business Route 24).

The flyover bridge allows access from McCluggage Road in Washington just north of Wal-Mart to Route 24.

IDOT sources advise that work of the Route 24 access ramp is tentatively scheduled for April 3-7.

Because the work is sensitive to both temperature and rain, the work could be postponed depending on weather.

IDOT will also continue other minor construction activities in the Washington area during the next two months.

Residents are asked to use the same detours as last fall to access Route 24 west to Peoria.

Motorists may get to Route 24 via North Main Street, North Cummings Road.

Another route is to take North School Street to Centennial Road and then to Grange Road.

Residents with any questions or concerns may call the Washington Police Department at 444-2313.
