Residents and the Washington Police Department joined together to raise money for special olympics at a cash bash Nov. 1.

"I think every time it gets better and better," Chief Jim Kuchenbecker said, adding he thinks Officer Jim Fussner did a phenomenal job.

"The thing that amazes me is this is the benevolence and compassion of the community," he said, "and so many people here give so much of themselves in so many ways."

Participants winning $100 were Tony and Judy Maggio, Joyce Underwood, Mary Habecker, Roger Greenway, Eveline Durham, Chris First, Don Kascak, Brad Marshall, Pat Daughtery, Heather Sauder, Dave Weaver, Carol and Jim Hamilton, Brian Wisher, TIm Pritchard, Todd Baker and Roger Greenway and Carol Bane.

The $500 winner were Ty Sanders, Kevin Byrd, To m Brecklin and Susan Dudley.

The grand prize, $4,000 winner was Kevin Longfellow.

Kuchenbecker said many of the winners donated their winnings back to Special Olympics.

Although there was no total amount raised available at this time, he said he expects it to be around $10,000 or more
