Jonathan Vallosio, a member of Washington Boy Scout Troop 163, was recently awarded the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest award given by the Boy Scouts of America.

Vallosio arranged for the removal of two old trees in front of Calvary Mennonite Church which were threatening the power lines.

After removing the two trees, he arranged for their replacement with two flowering Trinity Pear trees plus associated mulching and bulb planting.

Vallosio, 17, is the son of Jeff and Carol Vallosio of Washington.

His grandparents are Pete and Dorothy Vallosio of Peoria and Bill and Jo Lanxon of Washington.

Vallosio is a senior at Washington Community High School where he is member of the drum line in the Panthers marching band.
