A new salon has opened in Washington offering a hard-to-find service outside of the Chicago Land area.

Owner of Transformations Lash Studio and Salon, Aubrey Brown, 29, of Washington, is only one of two certified lash specialists in Illinois outside of Chicago.

Brown has been in the salon industry for ten years and said “the timing felt right” for her to open up her own salon.

In addition to lash extensions, Transformations offers nail services, waxing and hair services for both men and women.

The salon is a family business, with Brown’s sister, Ginger Rosenthal, of Washington working as receptionist and another sister, Suzie White, 26, of Washington, as the salon’s only barber, specializing in men’s haircuts.

Although the salon officially opened in October, Brown and her staff celebrated the grand opening Saturday with special discounts and free men’s haircuts all day.

“We were busy all day,” she said. “There was standing room only in here.”

Brown said they have had a steady stream of clients since their opening in October partly due to their great location at 1291 Peoria St. and partly due to her loyal clients from the past 10 years in Washington.

The salon is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
