The Morton girls basketball team shutout visiting Pekin in the first half before settling for a 68-18 Mid-Illini Conference win Friday at the PotterDome.
The Class 3A fourth-ranked Potters (8-1, 2-0) were ahead 27-0 after one quarter, before adding 26 unanswered points in the second period.
Pekin did not score until the middle of the third quarter, but did outscore Morton's reserves 18-15 in the second half.
Tenley Dowell scored 11 first-half points, one of 11 different Morton players to score in the first half. A total of 13 Potters scored on the night, with Bridget Wood and Lindsey Dullard also adding 11 points each. Taylor Goss scored six for Pekin.
