PEORIA -- A Peoria County woman in her 70s has become the 39th Tri-County resident to die of COVID-19.
The woman did not reside in a long-term care facility, according to information released by the Peoria City/County Health Department on Monday afternoon.
The Tri-County area has 72 newly diagnosed cases of COVID-19 since numbers were last released on Thursday. Because Monday’s numbers are for the three-day holiday weekend, that averages out to 24 new cases a day.
Peoria County saw 62 new cases for a total of 565, Tazewell County reported nine new cases for a total of 148, and Woodford county added one case for a to-date total of 36.
Hospitalizations are up by one case from Thursday, with two COVID-19 patients in area intensive care units and 11 in non-ICU beds.
