OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center announced in a Thursday news release that Rebecca O’Donnell is the most recent winner of the Daisy award for outstanding nursing care.
Winners are nominated by patients and their families. O’Donnell works in OSF HealthCare’s Surgical Acute Unit.
“I was stuck in the surgical unit for most of the afternoon and evening due to a limited number of rooms available on the day of my surgery,” said an anonymous OSF patient in a letter nominating O’Donnell. “Becky was wonderful. She took care of every need and want I had, along with keeping my family in the loop due to the restrictions in visits. I cannot thank her enough for the incredible care.”
The Daisy Award is a national endeavor that recognizes exemplary professional practice among nurses. OSF Saint Francis was the first hospital in the Midwest to participate in the program. Nurses who win receive a special pin and a bouquet of daisies.
