U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will be the special guest for the Illinois Democratic County Chairs’ Association's annual brunch that is held as part of the Illinois State Fair's Democrat Day.
The event will be Aug. 14 at the Crowne Plaza Springfield, 3000 S. Dirksen Parkway.
Pelosi, 79, is a California Democrat who became the the first female U.S. House Speaker in history. She is in her third term as speaker.
The annual IDCCA brunch often attracts a high-profile Democrat to be its special guest. Last year, former Vice President Joe Biden was booked to appear but he withdrew shortly before the event due to illness.
Pete Buttigieg, the mayor of South Bend, Indiana, and now a Democratic presidential candidate, stepped in to replace Biden as keynote speaker last year.
Individual tickets for this year's event, starting at $75, go on sale July 15 at www.ILDCCA.org/chairs-brunch. Sponsorships are available now.
