MORTON — Manito Transit is moving its North American headquarters from Bloomington to Morton.
The office will be in the Growmark Tank and Truck Center at 240 W. Ashland St., off Interstate 74.
Manito Transit is a subsidiary of agricultural supply and grain cooperative Growmark, providing trucking services. It has facilities in Illinois, Iowa and Wisconsin.
About 15 Manito Transit employees will move this summer into the company's new Morton office.
"The Morton location will improve our visibility and customer service by centralizing our trucking operations," Manito Transit general manager Jim Bobitt said in a news release.
Manito Transit was awarded a $5,000 Morton Microgrant last month by the Morton Economic Development Council. The funds will help pay for furnishings in the new office.
Microgrants are available for businesses that are bringing new jobs in Morton. A business can receive up to $5,000 for property improvement or acquisition, equipment purchases, inventory, working capital or rent subsidies.
The Microgrant program is subsidized by Morton Community Bank through an investment with the Morton EDC.
"We're proud of our shipping and logistics hub in Morton and we're delighted to welcome Manito Transit to our community," said Leigh Ann Brown, the CEO of the Morton EDC, in a news release.
