CREVE COEUR — A Creve Coeur woman was arrested Tuesday night as the result of a monthlong prostitution investigation, according to authorities.
Bethany Ann Geiler, 45, posted $150, or 10 percent of $1,500 bond, that night to be released from the Tazewell County Jail, where she was being held on a misdemeanor charge of resisting a peace officer. She was also charged with ordinance violations from Creve Coeur related to the prostitution allegations, according to an official with the jail.
An undercover officer sent Geiler a text message Tuesday after he found her telephone number in an advertisement on an escort-service website, according to a Creve Coeur Police Department news release.
In subsequent texts, Geiler agreed to exchange sexual acts for money and directed the officer to her residence.
When the officer arrived, about 7 p.m., Geiler agreed to the transaction verbally. At that point, other officers arrived and attempted to arrest her.
Geiler clenched her fists and struggled, but the officers were able to subdue her, the release stated.
Neighborhood complaints prompted police to investigate Geiler, according to the release. Surveillance and interviews confirmed illicit activities were taking place.
A date for her to appear in Tazewell County Circuit Court wasn't known Wednesday.
