Only one point separated the Pekin co-op and Normal Community boys swimming and diving teams in their meet at Pekin.
Unfortunately for the host Dragons, that point belonged to Normal Community in a 93-92 loss Thursday.
"There were some very close swims," said Pekin coach Christine Dunn. "As for our times, most were average. But that's expected this time of year. Holiday season is a hard time to concentrate on training, so no major time drops are expected."
There were some bright spots for the Dragons in the narrow defeat.
Alex Kula won two individual events, including a come-from-behind victory in the 200 IM (2:11.48). Kula also won the 100 freestyle (:51.58).
Brady Hild took the lead early and never gave it up in winning the 200 freestyle (2:05.84).
Garrett Oliver finished a strong second in the 100 breaststroke (1:13.61), an event he normally does not swim, then joined with Dillon Marlatt, Isaac Watson and Kula to win the next event, the 400 freestyle relay (3:44.29).
Freshman Gavin Schwemin keeps dropping his time in the breaststroke. He finished third (1:18.23) behind Oliver.
Pekin diver Jayson Presley won his event, scoring 183.90 points.
