HUDSON — The three victims have been tentatively identified in Wednesday's fiery, head-on collision of two rigs on Interstate 39, said McLean County Coroner Kathy Davis.
However, their names are being withheld publicly for now, Davis said.
"Release of the victims’ names are pending further investigation by the McLean County Coroner’s Office and will be released as soon as all information can be verified scientifically and proper notification to their families is completed," Davis said.
Autopsies Thursday showed all three died from blunt force injuries in the collision, Davis said.
About 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, a northbound rig apparently crossed over the median and rammed directly into a southbound rig, Illinois State Police have said. All three victims were occupants of the rigs, though police have not yet specified the number of occupants in each.
