A letter from the Morton Premier Soccer Club tournament committee:
Morton Premier Soccer Club will play host to the Morton Pumpkin Classic once again Sept. 21-23 at McClallen Park.
Last year was the first year back in Morton (after a three-year hiatus) for the event, and we’re excited to bring this event back again -- even bigger and better this year.
The year’s event will host approximately 140 teams from all over the state/neighboring states. We estimate that the event will host approximately 2,000 players and their families for a total of around 5,000-plus people visiting our great community that weekend.
Many teams will be staying in our hotels and dining in our restaurants in town. This is wonderful for Morton!
The MPSC tournament committee has been very hard at work planning for this event.
We share this news to let you know that given the size of the event, there may be some minor traffic and parking issues that weekend in town. Places in town may be a little busier (that’s a good thing!) and you may see lines in places you are not used to waiting.
We ask for your patience and understanding.
We also share this to let you know that we do have clean up crews assigned that Sunday and Monday that will be making sure that we keep our park area cleaned up. We will do our best to make things run as smoothly as possible.
If interested in catching some games, tournament games will be played Friday evening, all day long Saturday and and until approximately 6 p.m. Sunday.
We have brackets for U8-U19 aged teams playing that weekend. The official tournament schedule will be posted in the coming weeks but can be found on our webpage at mortonpremiersoccer.com under our tournament tab.
If you’d like to watch, just bring your chair and stop by McClallen Park. We will have an estimated 15 fields running at our beautiful park complex. Concessions and food vendors will also be available that weekend at the park.
We would like to give one final thank you to the Morton Park District for making sure the facility will be ready to go for that weekend. The Park District has been working closely with our committee to gauge our needs. We are ready to show these visiting teams what a great community and sports facility we have!
Looking forward to an awesome tournament weekend that will make our community proud.
