Four wins, a fourth-place finish in a 16-team field, and season-best times.
It was a good day Saturday for the Pekin boys swimming and diving team in the Raider Invitational at Bloomington.
“Good swims. Nobody added time,” said Pekin coach Christine Dunn.
The same four Pekin swimmers won two relays. Jack Marlatt, Adam Peterson, Alex Kula and Tyler Cummins won the 200 medley relay (1:42.81) and Marlatt, Cummins, Kula and Peterson won the 200 freestyle relay (1:31.77).
Peterson also won the 50 freestyle (:21.90) and 100 freestyle (:49.14).
Seeded ninth in the 200 freestyle, Kula won the second-fastest heat (1:51.86). His time beat four swimmers in the fastest heat and he finished third in the event.
Kula also was fourth in the 500 freestyle (5:16.67).
Marlatt was third in the 200 IM (2:10.46) and sixth in the 100 butterfly (:58.11).
Pekin’s Issac Watson shaved three seconds off his season-best time in 100 butterfly (1:04.58) and Matthew Peterson dropped three seconds from his season-best time in the 100 breaststroke (1:20.18).
Normal Community won the invitational with 318 points. The Ironmen were followed by Normal West (252), Champaign Centennial (248) and Pekin (223). Chathan Glenwood was fifth (219.5).
No Pekin divers competed in the invitational.
“It was an 11-dive meet. Our divers are just not there yet,” Dunn said. “They’re working hard to improve and learn new dives daily.”
Two Pekin divers compete in dual meets, which have six dives.
“A couple other divers are learning and practicing, but not quite ready for competition,” Dunn said.
