1925 - 2016

W. Jean Chronic, 91, of Dearborn, Mich., passed away Monday, Aug. 1, 2016, at Oakwood Common Senior Living Facility.

Mrs. Chronic was born in Weston, Ill., to Lee and Zelda Fincham Myer and spent her childhood in Pekin. Following graduation from Pekin Community High School, she attended Northwestern University and then worked in broadcasting and copywriting in Peoria and Galesburg. She met her future husband, Dale Chronic, while he was being interviewed on the radio.

Following their marriage, they lived in New Jersey for several years. The couple subsequently resided in the Detroit, Mich., area for 37 years where Mr. Chronic was a senior executive for the Boy Scouts of America and Mrs. Chronic pursued a successful career as an executive secretary and assistant to the CEOs of several local corporations.

Upon retirement, they built a home on Lake Huron near Rogers City, Mich., where they enjoyed sailing and woodworking, and made many close friends. Mrs. Chronic was very active in civic affairs, serving as an officer and on the boards of The Presque Isle County Historical Museum, Rogers City Women’s Civic League, Huron Shores Humanities Council, and several other local organizations.

After her husband’s passing, she moved back to the Detroit area to the Oakwood Common facility where, again, she was active in several resident programs for as long as her health permitted.

Mrs. Chronic was preceded in death in 1998 by her beloved husband of 50 years, Dale.

She is survived by her son, Joseph of Falmouth, Mass.; sister, Marilee Myer Trudgen of Metamora; and grandchildren, Jennifer Hecktor of O’Fallon, Mo., and George (Jed) Chronic of Mankato, Minn.; as well as five great-grandchildren.

Interment will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin, next to her husband and parents.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Presque Isle County Historical Museum of Rogers City Michigan, or the Great Lakes Council, B.S.A., 1776 W. Warren Ave., Detroit, Michigan.
