MACOMB, Ill. -

A six-hour standoff ended Wednesday evening with the alleged gunman dead of what authorities said was a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

According to Macomb Police Chief Curt Barker, a 911 call was placed at approximately 12: 45 p.m. from inside a Farm King store, with reports of a man with a semi-automatic rifle.

Law enforcement responded to the scene. After hearing shots fired, officers broke into two teams and approached the store. According to reports, one team was fired upon and the other team was able to enter the store. No injuries were reported during the shooting. After officers entered the store, the suspect retreated to the back of the store.

Officers escorted some of the store's employees and customers to the Hy-Vee Food Store, located next to Farm King.

Shortly before 4 p.m., officers escorted six people, including one small child, from Farm King.
