A member of the Washington Community High School softball program concluded her prep career June 8.

Outfielder Sara Hamilton was on the Mizuno White team in the Super 60 Classic at EastSide Centre.

The 2008 Lady Panther graduate was coached by the White’s Greg Easter, a former Illinois Valley Central High School mentor.

The White settled for second place, defeating Mizuno Blue in the semifinals before losing to Mizuno Red for the title.

Hamilton, an Illinois Central College women’s basketball and softball recruit, was the only Mid-Illini Conference player on the White.

This was the third time EastSide Centre hosted the Super 60, which this year consisted of 65 players from around the state.

Super 60 players are chosen based on areas like athletic ability, academics and extracurricular activities.

Players from classes 1A through 4A all are eligible for the unique recognition.

The all-star event capped a busy weekend at EastSide, where the 3A and 4A semifinal, third place and title games took place June 6 and 7.

Mizuno and Avanti’s Italian Restaurant sponsored the competition, which is in its 18th year overall.
