Washington, Ill. -

Washington Community High School produced all-Mid-Illini Conference athletes in every spring 2008 sport.

The baseball team, which won the league crown for the second year in a row, totaled four picks, including two on the first team.

Senior outfielder Hayden Shaver and Marshall Escue, a sophomore first baseman, were first-team honorees.

Juniors Ben Worner, a pitcher, and Alex Wilson an outfielder, were tabbed for the second team.

Wilson was coming off a first-team appearance as a sophomore.

Senior Sara Hamilton was a first-team all-conference pick as an outfielder from the Lady Panther softball team, which tied for sixth in the M-I.

She advanced from her second-team status in ’07.

Senior Kate Stinson, a third baseman, earned mention on the second team.

The seventh-place girls track and field team had five girls make all-league in two events.

Senior Tessa Barra won the high jump in the conference meet to land on the first team.

It was Barra’s second high-jump title in the last three years.

The 4x200 relay was on the second team after juniors Taiesha King and Katie Bahr and sophomores Brooke Bryan and Sara Waldon produced a runner-up finish.

Washington boys track and field senior Mike Minehan was one of two athletes to gain a first-team all-M-I post on an at-large basis after the league meet concluded.

Sophomore Kathleen O’Brien delivered a second-team award from the fifth-place girls soccer team.

Devin Norton, a senior, registered a second-team standing from the Panther boys tennis squad, which was fifth in the final rankings.
