Washington, Ill. -

Boys had won previous 45 in conference play

Washington’s dominance of Mid-Illini Conference boys basketball teams at Torry Gymnasium was nicked a bit Feb. 2.

The Panthers’ 45-game winning streak on their home floor in league games ended with a 50-49 loss to Canton.

Washington had not lost to an M-I visitor since a 78-61 defeat to Morton on Feb. 25, 2003, when coach Jeff LIttle was in his third of four seasons guiding the program.

Mark Roth led the Panthers, who played without injured starting guards Robert Izaguirre and Ryan Grebner, with 13 points.

Ben Ryan and Connor Underwood also were in double figures for Washington (15-5, 7-2) with 12 points apiece.

Morton (14-2, 8-1), a winner at Pekin on the same night, passed the Panthers in the league standings.

Matt Putrich led the Little Giants, who have won four of their last five conference games, with 17 points.
