The 31st running of the First to the Finish Invitational, formerly known as the Woodruff Invitational, is scheduled Saturday at iconic Detweiller Park with 5,636 runners, 186 schools and 340 teams competing in the three class mega-meet.

Peoria High hosts the meet that features most of the top ranked teams and individuals throughout the state. The day begins with the 1A girls race at 9 a.m. Races continue every 40 minutes, with the 3A boys finale scheduled for 1:40 p.m.

Last year, Danny Kilrea of LaGrange Lyons ran a meet record 14:02.3 to win the 3A boys race. The time was the 10th fastest all-time at Detweiller Park.

Elmwood/Brimfield is the defending 1A boys champ and Dunlap the defending 2A girls champion.
