The Washington boys cross country team is off and running, with a senior-dominated group ranked No. 6 in Class 2A by MileSplit. The Panthers were second to 3A Minooka at the Normal West Invitational, behind 13th-place finisher Avery Davidson and a top five pack that ran a 37-second split.

“It was a great first meet,” said Washington coach Tom Smith. “Our core group of seniors have been running together since the sixth grade. Avery Davidson, Ben Learned, Reese Borlin, Garrett Roberts, and Max Tellefson all went to (Washington) Central Grade School where they placed fifth in state as eighth graders. It has been exciting watching them work hard together and improve throughout the years.”
