The Deer Creek-Mackinaw volleyball team won its sixth straight regional championship on Thursday night. The Chiefs beat Tremont in straight sets 25-16, 25-16 to win their Class 2A Mackinaw Regional. Carson Smalley had 14 kills. Morgan Burr had 17 assists and two aces for Dee-Mack, which advances to the Farmington Sectional semifinals against Illini West.
AT PERU: Eureka swept host St. Bede to win its third straight regional title. The Hornets won in two sets 25-4, 25-16 with 11 kills and 10 digs from Hailey Flowers. Eureka advances to play the host Farmers at Farmington.
AT BIGGSVILLE: Farmington needed three sets to top Monmouth United, 18-25, 25-23, 25-19, and win its second regional title in program history. Bailey Shymansky had 13 kills and Haley Huls notched 22 assists and nine digs for the Farmers.
Elsewhere in Class 2A, Illini West defeated Knoxville 25-20, 25-20 to win its first regional championship since Carthage won in 2005. ... Downs Tri-Valley won its third regional championship in four years with a 25-18, 25-14 sweep of host-El Paso-Gridley.
AT WASHINGTON: Limestone won its fifth regional in six years with a 25-14, 25-20 win over Morton. The Rockets were led by Brittany Robinson, who had a match-high 14 kills. Laney Chiaravalle had 28 assists. Morton's Lindsey Dullard had a team-high five kills. Jossie Weller finished with 12 assists and Josi Becker had nine digs. The Rockets advance to the Galesburg Sectional against Sterling.
AT MONMOUTH-ROSEVILLE: Notre Dame wins its third straight regional championship in a 25-19, 25-22 win over Richwoods. Meghan Suelter had eight kills for the Irish. Janey Schlicksup had 23 assists and Rachel Kottoor notched 18 digs in the win. Knights senior Ariel Zedric has 21 assists and three digs. The Irish advance to the Galesburg Sectional against LaSalle-Peru.
AT GENESEO: Metamora dropped a straight-set decision to Sterling 18-25, 13-25. Kennedy Mathews finished with 13 assists and three blocks. Amanda Greening had five kills and Sara DuBois had 10 digs.
AT MENDOTA: LaSalle-Peru won its sixth straight regional title with a 25-16, 25-19 victory over Illinois Valley Central. Hannah Benson and Madi Johnson had seven kills each for IVC. Benson and Emily Wagner combined for two blocks each for the Grey Ghosts.
AT CHAMPAIGN: Pekin needed three sets to clinch back-to-back regional titles for the first time in program history, and the fourth title overall. The Dragons beat Bloomington 20-25, 25-17, 25-18. Hannah Thompson led the Dragons with 16 kills and 13 digs. Pekin advances to the Chatham Glenwood Sectional against Normal Community.
AT PRINCEVILLE: The host Princes dropped their regional championship game to LaMoille/Ohio 25-22, 25-20. Lucy Waid had eight kills, nine digs and two blocks. LaMoille's Lexi Loftus had 14 kills and 17 digs both were match highs. LaMoille advances to the Brimfield Sectional against Hartsburg-Emden.
Elsewhere, Wethersfield won in straight sets 25-12, 25-15 to win its own regional and keep its perfect season alive. The Geese advance to the Brimfield Sectional against the defending 1A champs, West Prairie. ...The Cyclones won their own regional 25-9, 25-18 over Augusta Southeastern. Cora Vyhnanek had 24 assists and 13 digs in the win. ... Hartsburg won its third regional in four years with a 25-14, 25-19 win over host Lewistwon. Anna Hayes had a match-high 19 kills for the Stags.
