The Notre Dame boys soccer team won its 12th consecutive regional title with a 1-0 victory over Geneseo on Saturday in the Class 2A Galesburg Regional.
Declan Dillon's goal at the 11-minute, 13-second mark of the first half was enough to send the Irish to their own sectional, scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday against last season's Class 1A champion Normal U-High.
Myles Sophanavong had the assist for the top-seeded Irish (18-4), which had 25 shots on goal to three for No. 6 seed Geneseo. Noah Madrigal put 13 shots on target for ND.
AT RICHWOODS: Dunlap (14-2-7) earned its fourth consecutive trip to a sectional with a 5-0 victory over conference rival Metamora in a Class 2A regional championship game in Peoria.
The Eagles and Redbirds played to a 1-1 draw in their Mid-Illini Conference matchup on Sept. 26.
Second-seeded Dunlap now advances to face Quincy Notre Dame in a sectional semifinal 5 p.m. Tuesday at Notre Dame.
AT WASHINGTON: Normal U-High won its eighth regional title in nine seasons, beating host Washington 1-0 in a regional title game.
No. 2-seeded Normal U-High (20-6) advances to the Notre Dame Sectional to face the hosts 7 p.m. Tuesday.
No. 3 Washington (14-6-3) lost to U-High earlier this season, 3-1.
