The Eureka girls golf team moved up one notch to seventh on the final day of the Class 1A state finals Saturday at Red Tail Run Golf Course in Decatur.

The Hornets, making their first appearance at the state finals in school history, posted a 726 team total after shooting 365 on the final day. They ended 22 strokes behind sixth-place Charleston and finished ahead of five teams.

Junior Carolyn Pacocha shot a 10-over-par 82 to finish with a 163 and tie for 17th place. Teammate Hayley Coffman tied for 27th with a 167 total after an 83 Saturday.

Kewanee sophomore Riley Hansen finished second individually with a 152 total after a 75 Saturday. Hansen was three strokes behind medalist Ali Schrock of Pontiac.

Macomb was 11th as a team, led by Emma Thorman’s seventh-place showing. Thorman carded a 78 Saturday for a 159 total.

Morton’s Katy Troyer shot an 87 for a 174 total and a 47th-place finish. Notre Dame’s Sidney Jockisch tied for 50th with a 176 overall.

Elizabeth Whitford of Galva tied for 67th at 184, while Macomb’s Laine Torrance and Carman McMahon ended in ties for 75th and 80th with totals of 190 and 193, respectively.

Notre Dame’s Mara McCarthy finished with a 206 after a 101 Saturday.

The Class 1A team champion was Metropolic Massac County, which ended with a 665, six shots better than Rockford Lutheran.

In Class 2A at Hickory Point Golf Club in Forsyth, Galesburg’s Kirsten Osborn fired a 72 to finish with a 152 and tie for 19th. Teammate Maitlyn Sanders tied for 76th with a 168 total.

The 2A medalist was Winnetka New Trier’s Penelope Tir, who shot a 71 to win by one stroke with a 144 total. New Trier also captured the team championship with a 603 total, 10 shots better than runner-up Barrington.
