CLASS 2A

At Moline

Site: Oakwood Country Club, Coal Valley

Area schools: Limestone, Dunlap, East Peoria, Galesburg, Pekin, Peoria High, Richwoods

Outlook:  Limestone, Dunlap and Galesburg look to be the favorites to move on to sectionals. Freshman Haylee Hornback has had a big year for the Rockets as has Kaylee O’Donnell. Dunlap, third in the Mid-Illini tournament, has been led by Ellyn Liu and Lucy Barber. Galesburg, which finished eighth at state last year, has been paced by Kirsten Osborn, who tied for 21st at state last season and Maitlyn Sanders.

Up next: Springfield Sacred Heart Griffin Sectional at Panther Creek Country Club, Springfield, Oct. 9.

Elsewhere

LaSalle-Peru and Washington travel to the Minooka Regional at Heritage Bluffs Golf Club in Channahon. It looks to be a tough regional with Normal Community and Normal U-High expected to advance.

CLASS 1A

At El Paso

Site: El Paso Golf Club

Area schools: IVC, Eureka, Metamora, Fieldcrest, Morton, Notre Dame, Princeville, Midland, El Paso-Gridley.

Outlook: Eureka’s 1-2 punch of Carolyn Pacocha and Hayley Coffman hope to ignite the Heart of Illinois Conference champion Hornets, who will face stiff competition from Mid-Illini champion Metamora. Pacocha and Coffman finished first and second in the HOI meet. Metamora, which finished eighth at state last year with a senior-dominated squad, are hopeful that Aubrey Youngquist and Haleigh Hassinger can begin the young Redbirds on another tournament run. Look for Morton, which finished a close second to Metamora at the league meet, to also challenge. Mid-Illini Conference tournament medalist Katy Troyer leads the Potters. Notre Dame and the hosts also could contend.

Up next: Metamora Sectional at Metamora Fields Golf Club, Oct. 9.
