Let’s get caught up with recent college signings by Pekin student-athletes.

• Football quarterback Mason Carr signed with Lindenwood University, an NCAA Division II school in St. Charles, Mo. Carr was an All-Mid-Illini Conference First Team selection last fall.

• Football tight end and defensive end Colton Reader signed with Lindenwood.

• Morgan Fuller signed to play women’s lacrosse at St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa. She’s playing in the Morton club program.

• Girls soccer midfielder Katie Pendleton signed with St. Ambrose University, an NAIA school in Davenport, Iowa.

• Girls soccer forward Katelyn Smith signed with St. Ambrose.

• Girls soccer defender Leighton Rhoades signed with Faulkner University, an NAIA school in Montgomery, Ala.

• Girls soccer goalie Christy Torrey signed with Illinois Central College.

• Jordan Finneran signed to dance at Lindenwood-Belleville.

Raiders reception

The Class 3A state finals-bound East Peoria softball team will be honored Saturday at a reception in the high school cafeteria that will immediately follow the Raiders’ game at EastSide Centre.

East Peoria (31-4) will face Rochester at 10 a.m. Friday in the state semifinals. If the Raiders win, they’ll play for the state championship against either LaGrange Park Nazareth or Marengo at noon Saturday. If East Peoria loses to Rochester, it will play either Nazareth or Marengo in the third-place game at 10 a.m. Saturday.

This is the first time the East Peoria softball team has played in the state finals.

Ace at Parkview

Congratulations to Jerry Sheehan for his hole-in-one Sunday on the 135-yard, par-3 10th hole at Parkview Golf Course in Pekin. Sheehan used a 7-wood for his ace.
