Fire department greatly appreciates treadmill donation

On behalf of the Washington Fire Department and our personnel, I would like to express our thanks to Joe Russell for his generous donation and continued support. After Joe found out that the treadmill that was in place at our station was getting older and worn out, he donated a newer, used treadmill to replace the old, worn out one.
The new treadmill, like the old one, is being used by our personnel to maintain and improve the fitness levels required to do our work. We recognize the need to be in good physical condition in order to enable us to provide our services in a safe manner. Each year approximately 50 percent of the line of duty deaths of firefighters and emergency responders are related to cardiac related issues. The members of the Washington Fire Department recognize and accept this issue as an issue that needs to be addressed on an individual and personal level, as well as a department or professional issue. The new treadmill that Joe so generously donated will play an intricate part in our ability to address the health and welfare of our personnel.
Once again Joe, thank you, your family, and your employees for their continued support.
